Before arriving to Seoul, Gena was told about a trendy neighborhood called Ikseon-dong from her Korean co-teacher. She described it as ‘up-and-coming’ and not quite as touristy when compared to other major neighborhoods in Seoul: Hongdae, Itaewon, Meyong-dong {to name a few}. From that point on, the two of us made it a priority to check it out for ourselves. Continue Reading

48 HOURS IN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
After nearly five months in South Korea, I finally made it Seoul! Before moving to South Korea, Seoul was about the only city I was familiar with in the country. It’s the city every expat wants to live in, and the city every ESL teacher wants to teach in. After exploring Seoul for myself, I can absolutely see why. Continue Reading
RECOLLECTIONS EN ROUTE: A TALE OF TWO CITIES
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. – Charles Dickens
Which happens to describe my experience living in London and New York perfectly. I think back to the state in which I arrived to both of these two cities. The technical differences outweigh the similarities, and yet in retrospect I think my intentions ran parallel on both ventures. Continue Reading
VIDEO: SOUTH KOREA VLOG 9
Last week I decided to record the {not so thrilling, somewhat mundane} realities of being an EPIK teacher here in Daegu, South Korea. Life as an expat is always interesting, but it still brings with it plenty of routine and responsibilities. That being said, every day keeps getting better with my tiny humans and I’m so grateful to lead the life I do. Side note – HAPPY 4TH OF JULY to everyone back home in the states! Continue Reading
VIDEO: SOUTH KOREA VLOG 8
It’s officially been 4 months since I moved to South Korea. I’ve collected random footage over the last couple of weeks including hiking Palgongsan Mountain to Gatbawi in Daegu and traveling back to Busan with my partner in crime. Continue Reading
10 Things to Know Before Teaching English in South Korea
Previously, I shared a post explaining 10 things the EPIK program fails to tell you before you begin teaching in South Korea. Now I am here to share the things EPIK does tell you prior to arriving in Korea, and during orientation, that you should pay close attention to.
The Most Insta-Worthy Cafes in Busan, South Korea
Whenever I visit a new city, it is always one of my goals to scope out the trendiest, chicest, most Instagrammable restaurants and cafes. A majority of traveling consists of eating and drinking, and since white wine {and wine in general} is basically non-existent here in Korea, I’ve turned to iced lattes this spring and summer. It’s safe to say, over the last few months cafe hopping has become a specialty of mine. Surprisingly Korea has the most Insta-worthy cafes I’ve ever been to, and that includes Europe and the Americas. Continue Reading
VIDEO: BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA
I recently visited Korea’s second largest city located along the coast: Busan. I packed a lot into two days, though barely scratched the surface of things to do in Busan. Some of the highlights include Gamcheon Cultural Village, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Haeundae Beach, Jagalchi Fish Market, and Waveon Coffee. I loved it so much, I plan to return this weekend. Hope you enjoy!
BUSAN GAMCHEON CULTURE VILLAGE: A PHOTO DIARY
The first location I visited upon arrival to Busan, South Korea was the Gamcheon Culture Village. People refer to the Gamcheon Culture Village as the ‘Santorini’ or ‘Machu Picchu’ of Korea. I had seen so many images sprawled across social media and my camera was itching to start snapping the moment I stepped foot into the village. Continue Reading
MY 2-DAY BUSAN TRAVEL ITINERARY
This past weekend I took a quick trip to the coastal city of Busan. Busan is the second largest city in South Korea, after Seoul. Lucky for me, it only takes approximately 40 minutes to travel to Busan from Daegu. With only two days {and an endless amount of activities to partake in}, I had to prioritize my afternoons. I barely scratched the surface, however I’ve recalled my quick 2-day itinerary in Busan to share with you. Continue Reading
