Would you visit a possibly haunted, mysteriously abandoned, creepily eerie UFO village? If the answer is yes, keep on reading. If the answer is, “WTF is a UFO Village?” I also advise you to keep on reading. Located only an hour outside of Taipei in Tawain stands an abandoned neighborhood – the only catch? Looking at the homes, one could assume aliens were its’ residents.

Is the Famous Kandy to Ella Train Ride Overrated?
The famous Kandy to Ella train ride was at the top of my list when it came to planning my two weeks in Sri Lanka. I knew I wanted to travel like a local, witness the breathtaking tea fields, and stick my feet out of an open doorway. All of which I did! While I, personally had a magnificent time on the 7 hour journey, there are many people who do not share the same enthusiasm for the famous train ride.

This is the longest I’ve gone without posting on the blog… EVER… and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand it felt like I needed to take a break. Constantly worrying about creating content and keeping up with the {travel} Joneses took its toll on me. Social media ran my life and I started losing focus on the entire reason I started blogging in the first place. On the other hand, writing and creating on this space has always been an outlet for me. And with that instrumental piece of my life missing, it began to feel like a part of my identity was slowly slipping away from me.

For our last trip, but first international adventure together, Gena and I booked tickets to Hong Kong over Lunar New Year. We figured, what better way to ring in a new year, and close another chapter in our lives simultaneously? Well, I must say Hong Kong lived up to every expectation I had ever imagined. But it might not be for the reasons you’d assume…

To ring in 2019, I celebrated at the Floating Palace New Year’s Countdown Party with GSM in Seoul. I squeezed loved ones, toasted a sky set ablaze with fireworks, and danced the night away. It was the perfect way to enter the new year, and one of the best NYE celebrations I’ve ever experienced. 2019 is already shaping up to be a year of promise, and I look forward to sharing my adventures with you. On that note, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thanks, as always, for following me en route.

I previously drafted two different “New Year” posts, but neither of them really captured the essence of the past year. I finally came to the conclusion that no amount of words typed in a blog post will be able to explain what the past year has meant to me. But alas, I feel the need to say something as we head into 2019.
