After my tragic holiday from hell in Indonesia, I could not wait to arrive back in London. Mostly for the sake of my skin, but also because it has so quickly become a home to me.
After scheduling an appointment to apply for a new passport and registering to see a general practitioner here in the UK, things were finally feeling a little less chaotic. Within a week, the antibiotics had kicked in and I began to feel like someone I recognized again. I realize I haven’t blogged about England since my trip to Manchester! {gasp!} I am overdue, so expect an overload.
It was a cloudy weekend {not that I will ever dare complain about London weather again}, but it was time to get back to exploring. My time here in the UK has almost reached the halfway mark. This means I have a limited amount of weekends and an unlimited amount of adventures I want to accomplish.
My first stop was the British Museum.
I went with my P.I.C. Sarah {as if we are surprised}, and had a fabulous time. Most of our time was spent attempting to face swap our faces with the roman statues. But when we were paying attention, we saw some pretty incredible stuff!
^ the queen look so unimpressed in this chess game which is fair enough
^ one of sooooo many mummies in the British Museum
^ the rosetta stone
^ it was the strangest thing in the world to see credit cards in a museum and think that indeed, one day, these will be ancient artifacts
We also made our way to Primrose Hill in Regents Park during my first weekend ‘home’. This was a tick off the list for Sarah, and I am happy I made my way up to check out the view. Along the way, we stopped by one of the many flower stands scattered along London. The vibrancy of these flowers always brings out the cheer that may be lacking from the cloudy skies.
But let’s be honest, you can’t really have a bad afternoon in London.
We began snapping away at the skyline.
And of course added ourselves into the shots.
Until we realize how horrible our location was and that we were crashing a picnic of sorts.
That’s better.
We also stopped by Neal’s Yard which always brings a little color to a cloudy day. I was so disappointed that it was under construction! I had visited previously on a gorgeous sunny afternoon where the unattractive scaffolding was nonexistent, but alas, didn’t have my camera. Nonetheless, it was still as vibrant as ever. Another must if you are ever in London.
The moral of the story today folks is simple but sweet: Man does it feel good to be back!
I won’t be exiting the UK until my European adventure begins in Madrid, Spain at the end of July. Partly because I want to soak up as much of London as possible. And partly because I cannot legally leave the country without a passport…
Small details.
Having a cuppa and calling it a night!
Adventures coming up include: Harry Potter Studio Tour, National History Museum, The Lion King Musical, another visit to Manchester {hopefully}. Any suggestions please leave a comment below!
