GALENTINES DAY

Oh, Valentines Day.

What a track record we have had. Let’s refresh, shall we?

Last year, I broke someones heart. The year before that, I was unknowingly on the verge of having my own heart broken shortly after the day of love.

Despite the fact that I am not in the market of looking for love, I went on a first date this Valentines Day. Ambitious, I know. But this was a Galentines Date, boyfriend approved and all. I met my first friend in London {yay!}. Sarah is from the United States. Better yet, Sarah is from California. And has previously lived in London before making her move in January of this year. We spent the morning grabbing coffee and brunch at Timberyard. I had an egg and potatoe frittata and paired it with a mocha. This frittata was unreal. I will be back.

We left the coffee shop and started exploring. Suddenly we were walking the streets of the West End and turned a corner to crowds of people celebrating. It was the Chinese New Year and we were in China Town! We quickly stopped to listen to some live music and admire the brightly decorated streets. This celebration had taken over much of the surrounding areas and after fighting our way through crowds of tourists, we were ready for a break. We found a quaint little pub, ordered a couple glasses of wine, and parked ourselves upstairs in a small, cozy area. We chatted and after a glass of wine had found out more about each other than you would normally disclose on a first date. But this was a Galentines Date. No rules.

We met up again the following night for Mexican food {yes, Mexican food in London. yes, it was delicious} and drinks at a brick lined, neon lit bar called Adventure Bar.

Overall, I would say I had a successful Valentines Day here in my new home. There were no heartbreaks or impossible expectations to be met. Just a whole lotta love for a new city, a new friend, and of what the world has to offer.
