After almost two weeks in London, I figured it was about time I started exploring. I have been settling in just fine, after battling jet lag and a new routine, and I am ready for the fun stuff now.
I walked to the closest tube station, Southgate Station, and hopped on the southbound train. As I mentioned previously, the tube is so easy to navigate. All I had to do was decide what I wanted to accomplish during that short adventure. I eventually settled on Oxford Street, one of the most famous streets to showcase its shopping in the world. I had a few minor things to purchase, but wanted to take advantage of the surrounding area.
After walking through crowds and grabbing the few necessary items I had come for, I decided to venture off the main roads and found myself in Soho. More specifically Carnaby Street.
This area in Soho is made up of a few main streets (pedestrians only!) and smaller side alleys with restaurants and cafes attached to the brick walls on either side. I came across an alley with huge life-size pink lightbulbs hanging from wires and instantly decided that would be the ideal spot to admire the scenery over a Vanilla Latte.
I did a bit more exploring and decided it was best to head back to the tube station. As it is Winter in London, it gets dark around the early hour of 5:30. I am still attempting to acclimate myself to the bitter cold weather, but I am told Spring is the most wonderful time of the year to visit the UK, so I am willing to push through …poor, spoiled California girl. I know, I know.
